What Do You Know About Liposuction

2025-10-11

In this era where slimming is the beauty, liposuction is a widely used safe slimming and shaping technique internationally, which is therefore welcomed by many beauty seekers. After experiencing the despair of exercise, dieting, and rebounding, it must be said that liposuction surgery has become a key, opening the shortcut door to instantly become slim. So, what is liposuction? Which parts of the body can undergo this surgery? What are the common liposuction methods and how to take care of them after surgery? Let's learn about liposuction together with the editor below!

1、 What is liposuction? Liposuction is a type of body sculpting surgery in plastic and cosmetic surgery. It involves making an incision of about 2mm to 4mm in a concealed area (such as inside the navel, under the folds of the earlobes, or where underwear can cover it), and then inserting a liposuction needle with a diameter of 1.2mm to 3.0mm. The excess fat in a certain part of the body is sucked out through negative pressure suction to achieve rapid local weight loss.

2、 Common liposuction sites

1. Waist and abdomen. By liposuction, the accumulated fat in the waist and abdomen can be removed, improving body shape, presenting a small waist, and gaining confidence.

2. Thighs. By liposuction, the accumulated fat in the legs can be quickly removed, the bulky thighs can be reduced, and the curves of the thighs can be reshaped.

3. Shoulders and back. Through surgery, local fat accumulation can be resolved, improving the "tiger's back and bear's waist", and can also be used to improve the "wealth bag".

4. Hips. Suck out accumulated fat, improve hip line, and enhance body shape.

5. In addition to the above areas, liposuction can also be performed on the face, chest, accessory breasts, arms, and other parts.

For women, the lower abdomen, side waist, and double chin are the most common areas for liposuction accumulation, as the fat in these areas is mostly in a static state and difficult to lose through exercise or dieting. Direct removal through liposuction is the most effective treatment method.

3、 Common liposuction methods

1. Negative pressure liposuction: using a negative pressure vacuum suction device, connected to a metal suction tube with a suction hole at the end, entering subcutaneous tissue through a small incision in the skin, and suctioning out locally accumulated adipose tissue to improve obesity. The combination of negative pressure liposuction and swelling anesthesia is widely used due to its good surgical effect and simple operation.

2. Resonance liposuction: The resonance instrument can generate mechanical waves in subcutaneous fat, resonate with adipose tissue, and at the same time dissolve fat, suck out dissolved fat cells from the body. Resonance liposuction has the advantages of short time, large suction volume, and less bleeding, making it particularly suitable for weight loss and body shaping in areas with local fat accumulation such as the waist, abdomen, buttocks, limbs, and back.

3. Energy assisted liposuction: This is the use of energy such as ultrasound, laser, or radiofrequency to destroy fat cells, and then extract the ruptured cells from the body to achieve weight loss. Some energy assisted liposuction devices can selectively destroy adipocytes while preserving the integrity of reticular structures, blood vessels, nerves, lymphatic vessels, etc., which is less likely to cause vascular and nerve damage.

4、 Postoperative care after liposuction

Effective postoperative care is crucial for the later surgical outcomes and prevention of possible complications.

1. Rest. Rest in bed for 24 hours and avoid vigorous exercise for one month after surgery to prevent bleeding and swelling.

2. Diet. Within half a month, fast spicy and stimulating foods, as well as any health products and medicines containing blood activating and stasis removing substances, and refrain from seafood, smoking, and alcohol.

3. Prevent infection. Antibiotics need to be taken for 7 days after surgery, and the liposuction needle should be kept clean and dry at the eye. It can only be soaked in water after 3 days of suture removal.

4. Shaping. Persist in wearing a face mask and shapewear for three months after surgery. Wear it for 24 hours in the first month after surgery and intermittently for the next two months.

In short, it is important to note that liposuction is not a one-time solution. Eating, drinking, and not exercising after liposuction can cause a certain degree of rebound; Although liposuction is good, you can't be too greedy! Persistently wearing shapewear after liposuction can help restore smooth and firm skin; After liposuction, appropriate exercise can be done to promote wound healing, but avoid vigorous exercise! Wishing everyone a well proportioned and beautiful physique!
