Is Stomach Pain A Minor Issue? Women Should Be Careful Of Gynecological Diseases When Experiencing Abdominal Pain

2025-9-18

Abdominal pain, I believe most female friends have encountered it. Many times, people do not pay much attention to it, thinking that it is just a general cold or menstrual pain caused by not paying attention to keeping warm during menstruation. However, don't think that women's abdominal pain is just a small matter. Different parts and symptoms of pain may indicate different illnesses.

So, what are the diseases that can cause abdominal pain in women?

1. Dysmenorrhea

Abdominal pain that occurs before, after, or during menstruation, which affects work and life, is called dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is divided into two types: primary and secondary dysmenorrhea.

Primary pain is often seen in adolescent girls and is related to factors such as prostaglandin levels, coldness, and emotional and psychological well-being. As people age or get married and have children, they can generally heal on their own.

Secondary dysmenorrhea is generally caused by endometriosis and adenomyosis, with symptoms of gradually worsening pain and periodic pain attacks; There are also cases of mild abdominal pain during non menstrual periods, which worsens before and after menstruation. Severe cases can lead to infertility and menstrual disorders, requiring medication treatment.

2. Ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy, also known as ectopic pregnancy, refers to the implantation and development of the fertilized egg outside the uterine cavity, including tubal pregnancy, abdominal pregnancy, ovarian pregnancy, cervical pregnancy, and uterine stump pregnancy.

The characteristics of abdominal pain in ectopic pregnancy are as follows: (1) The pain is mostly sudden, with tearing or intermittent pain on one side of the lower abdomen, accompanied by nausea and vomiting;

(2) When blood is confined to the lesion area, it manifests as local pain in the lower abdomen;

(3) When blood accumulates in the uterine and rectal depression, there is a feeling of heaviness in the anus;

(4) When there is excessive bleeding, diaphragmatic stimulation may occur, causing radiating pain in the shoulder and accompanied by shock.

The harm of ectopic pregnancy is very significant. Once it ruptures, a large amount of blood will enter the pelvic or abdominal cavity. Therefore, if pregnancy is detected, ectopic pregnancy should be ruled out first.

3. Luteal rupture

If you experience abdominal pain during intense exercise or coughing, it may be a ruptured corpus luteum! A large part of the corpus luteum ruptures, which is very dangerous. After the egg is released, the follicle forms the corpus luteum. Sometimes, the corpus luteum is only a thin membrane away from the surface of the ovary, and with a slight increase in activity, it faces the risk of rupture. However, once the rupture affects the small arteries of the ovary, the possibility of relying on its own coagulation function to stop bleeding is very low. For this type of abdominal pain, it is necessary to seek medical attention and, if necessary, undergo surgery to stop the bleeding.

4. Pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease is divided into two types: acute pelvic inflammatory disease and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease often evolving from acute pelvic inflammatory disease. The main manifestations of acute pelvic inflammatory disease are abdominal pain, accompanied by a feeling of anal prolapse and swelling. In severe cases, fever may occur, and even abscesses may form in the abdominal cavity. If acute pelvic inflammatory disease is not thoroughly treated, it will gradually develop into chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, causing adhesions of various organs in the pelvic and abdominal cavity, thereby inducing abdominal pain. The lower abdominal pain caused by chronic pelvic inflammatory disease usually worsens after fatigue, sexual activity, and before and after menstruation. Some people may feel tired and insomnia, which require examination and treatment.

5. Cervical adhesions: Women with a history of cervical surgery or uterine surgery, delayed menstruation, significantly reduced menstrual flow, or prolonged menstruation are prone to cervical adhesions.

Characteristics of cervical adhesions: accompanied by spasmodic pain in the middle of the lower abdomen, caused by obstruction or obstruction of menstrual blood flow. The adhesions can be removed through cervical dilation or hysteroscopy surgery to ensure smooth menstrual flow and relieve abdominal pain.

6. Ovarian cyst

When walking, there is a sharp pain in the lower abdomen, as if it has been pierced by a nail, accompanied by menstrual disorders, which may be ovarian cysts. At this time, there will still be obvious tenderness and muscle tension in the abdomen, and it is necessary to go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

In real life, women are prone to gynecological diseases, so some gynecological diseases can indeed cause lower abdominal pain. When abdominal pain frequently occurs, seek the help of a doctor in a timely manner, investigate the cause, and avoid gynecological diseases causing more complications and greater harm.
