In today's society, due to the fast pace and high intensity of life, adults, children, and the elderly often experience bloating, discomfort, lack of appetite, and suffering greatly, which greatly affects their daily life and work. So, how can this situation be effectively treated?
Gastric distension and qi belong to the category of digestive disorders in Western medicine theory. As the saying goes, there are nine out of ten stomach diseases, and having some minor gastrointestinal problems is just too normal. According to research, 20% of people worldwide suffer from digestive disorders, mainly manifested as discomfort, pain, and bloating in the upper abdomen, which may be accompanied by postprandial exacerbations, early satiety, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, and a series of other symptoms. Basically, symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort can be collectively referred to as indigestion, divided into organic and functional types. If the gastrointestinal tract is compared to a machine, organic dyspepsia is a hardware problem, such as gastric ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux, gastrointestinal tumors, etc. The exact cause can be identified through examination; Functional dyspepsia, on the other hand, is when you have checked the machine inside and out and haven't found any "broken" parts, but it inexplicably cannot function properly.
The treatment of gastric distension can be improved by using a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The choice of Western medicine is mainly based on the specific symptoms of the patient, while the choice of traditional Chinese medicine tends to be more targeted through syndrome differentiation and treatment.
1、 Commonly used Western medicine for gastric distension: 1. Mosapride: stimulates the gastrointestinal tract and exerts a prokinetic effect, thereby improving the gastrointestinal symptoms of patients with functional dyspepsia, but does not affect gastric acid secretion.
2. Ranitidine: can reduce gastric acid and enzyme activity, mainly used for the treatment of excessive gastric acid and heartburn. Used to treat active ulcer disease and high gastric acid secretion disease.
3. Protease granules: Indications are for digestive disorders caused by pepsin deficiency or decreased digestive function.
4. Domperidone: commonly used for indigestion, bloating, belching, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and pain.
5. Guweisu tablets: regulate psychology and effectively alleviate symptoms such as mental tension and irritability.
6. Omeprazole: It can effectively inhibit gastric acid. When combined with domperidone, it can effectively inhibit gastric acid secretion, promote gastric motility, and alleviate symptoms of stomach pain and bloating.
When it comes to the traditional Chinese medicine treatment of gastric distension and qi, there are mainly five types:
1. Cold food injury to the stomach: external cold pathogenic factors, overeating of raw and cold substances, causing cold to condense in the stomach, preventing the expansion of yang in the stomach, and blocking the qi mechanism. Symptoms include severe pain and bloating in the epigastric region, with a rapid onset of pain. The stomach feels like ice, with clear water gushing out. When warm, it feels comfortable. The tongue coating is white and smooth, and the pulse is delayed. The treatment should be based on warming the stomach, dispersing cold, regulating qi, and achieving the functions of warming the stomach, dispersing cold, regulating qi, and relieving pain. Medically, Lizhong Tang can be used in combination with Liujunzi Tang for treatment.
2. disharmony between the liver and stomach: Due to qi stagnation, the liver is damaged, and liver qi crosses and invades the stomach. This condition is often triggered by emotional trauma, with symptoms such as bloating in the epigastric region, pain and discomfort from qi reflux, frequent warming, relaxation when qi is obtained, thin and white tongue coating, and stringy veins. The treatment aims to soothe the liver and regulate qi, achieving the function of soothing the liver and regulating qi, as well as reducing gastric reflux. The representative prescription is Chaihu Shugan San.
3. Liver stagnation and stomach heat: Due to the stagnation of liver qi, it turns into fire and invades the stomach horizontally, causing the stomach to lose its function of transmission and transformation. The internal dampness is turbid, and the stagnation leads to heat generation, with heat residing in the stomach organs. It is often induced by the seven emotions or improper diet. The stomach pain seen in clinical practice can be mild or severe, with a burning sensation in the epigastric region, noisy and sour symptoms, dry mouth, bitter mouth, irritability, loss of appetite, thirst, dry stools, red tongue, yellow and greasy moss, and fine and fine pulse. Treatment involves purging the liver, clearing heat, and harmonizing the stomach, as well as soothing the liver and stomach qi to relieve pain. It can be treated with Zuojin Pill and Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder.
4. Spleen deficiency and stomach cold: The deficiency of yang qi in the spleen and stomach of the vegetarian body leads to insufficient circulation, internal generation of cold turbidity, and obstruction of yang in the spleen and stomach. It often recurs due to the cold sensation caused by drinking. Clinically, there is dull pain in the stomach, inability to digest food, fullness and tightness in the upper abdomen, lack of appetite, aversion to cold and preference for hot drinks, mild pain relief, occasional vomiting of clean water, clear and smooth urine, loose stools, pale tongue texture, white coating, fine and slow pulse. Treatment can benefit from warming the middle of qi, dispelling cold and harmonizing the stomach, and can benefit from the effects of warming the middle of temperature, dispelling cold and harmonizing the stomach. The representative prescription is Huangqi Jianzhong Tang.
5. Qi stagnation and blood stasis: This syndrome is often seen in the epigastric pain that persists for a long time, with qi and blood stagnation and obstruction, and the stomach mainly experiencing pain. The pain has a fixed location, like acupuncture, and there is a feeling of something pressing against the stomach when the stomach is full and stuffy. The tongue is blue and purple, and the pulse is fine and astringent. It should be treated with regulating qi, removing blood stasis, and relieving pain. Medications can be modified with Xuefu Zhuyu Tang.
