Improper Medication After "Yang", 5 Wrong Behaviors To Avoid

2025-8-3

With the comprehensive relaxation of epidemic prevention and control, respiratory disease infections have gradually become more severe, and many people have tested positive and shown serious clinical symptoms. However, due to the virus infection and limited medical resources, experts call on mild patients to self medicate at home. So, ensuring the rationality of medication is very important. Incorrect medication may lead to serious medication safety issues and irreversible health hazards to the body. In view of this, this article mainly introduces a wrong medication behavior after "yang".

1、 Preventing infection by taking medication indiscriminately

We all know that improving the body's immune system can prevent viral infections, and having sufficient vitamin C in the body is beneficial for maintaining a good immune state. However, anything should be taken in moderation, and it is not necessary to use medication indiscriminately to prevent infection. In daily life, some people may randomly take various vitamin supplements due to fear of infection, which not only fails to prevent diseases, but also carries the risk of overdose.

2、 After experiencing symptoms of panic medication, a common symptom is fever. Fever is a process in which the body's immune system fights against viruses, so body temperature also gradually increases. It is not necessary to take medication immediately after a fever has appeared. Antipyretic drugs need to be taken according to the medication instructions and prescribed dosage. Many people are very scared when they experience fever symptoms, thinking that they need to take antipyretic medication immediately when their body temperature reaches 37.5 ℃. In fact, antipyretic medication should be strictly taken according to the medication instructions until the body temperature reaches a certain value before taking it. In addition, antipyretic drugs can only be used up to four times a day, with strict medication intervals. Some people panic and increase their medication frequency in a day, which may lead to liver and kidney function damage due to excessive use of drugs.

3、 Take antibiotics after infection

Many people quickly take azithromycin, cephalosporin and other antibiotics on their own after finding "positive". The applicability of these antibiotics is actually infectious diseases caused by bacterial infection, and antibiotics have no effect on viral infections. Some people mistakenly believe that coughing and sore throat symptoms that occur after "yang" are necessary to be treated with antibiotics. In fact, all the therapeutic effects of antibiotics on cough, sore throat and other symptoms are because when the body has inflammation caused by bacterial infection, the application of antibiotics can have anti-inflammatory effects, thereby relieving discomfort symptoms, not because antibiotics themselves treat these symptoms. Therefore, only because COVID-19 infection is positive, antibiotics are not needed. Antibiotics are only needed when it is clear that there is a bacterial infection.

4、 Using multiple medications simultaneously

Another typical misconception is the problem of using multiple medications simultaneously. Cold medicine and antipyretic medicine cannot be used simultaneously. Most compound cold medicines contain acetaminophen, and if cold medicine and antipyretic medicine are used simultaneously, it may lead to excessive use of antipyretic medicine. This also suggests that before taking cold medicine, it is necessary to carefully read the instructions for use of the medicine, check the ingredients of the medicine, and avoid taking drugs containing acetaminophen at the same time, which may cause drug overdose and increase toxic side effects.

In addition, it is important to avoid using antipyretic drugs simultaneously. Currently, the two most commonly used antipyretic and analgesic drugs in clinical practice are ibuprofen and acetaminophen. If both antipyretic drugs are used simultaneously, it is likely to lead to serious consequences such as acute liver failure. For hypertensive patients, close monitoring of blood pressure is also necessary, as the use of these two drugs may induce or worsen hypertension.

5、 Overdose use of drugs

Some people may increase their medication dosage on their own in order to relieve symptoms as early as possible, which is a big misconception. Overuse of drugs not only fails to effectively relieve symptoms, but also leads to increased toxic side effects, causing adverse consequences and threatening their own safety, especially requiring attention.
