How To Prevent Renal Ptosis

2026-2-1

Renal ptosis is a common disease, and with the changes in people's lifestyles, the pressure of life is constantly increasing, so more and more people are suffering from renal ptosis. Patients can register for medical treatment at the urology or nephrology department. But now there are still many people who are not familiar enough with the disease of renal ptosis and do not know how this disease is caused. Below is a clear introduction for everyone.

1、 What is renal ptosis?

Renal ptosis refers to a condition where the amplitude of kidney activity is greater than that of a normal person. In a normal person, the kidneys can move up and down with breathing, but generally within a range of one to two centimeters, which is considered normal. But if the range of kidney movement exceeds three centimeters, it is possible that the kidney is sagging. Due to excessive movement of the kidneys, urine drainage may not be smooth. The supply of blood to the kidneys may also be abnormal, so patients may experience a series of symptoms such as lower back pain, lower back pain, and lower back swelling. So once kidney prolapse is found, it should be promptly treated at the hospital. Most patients experience lower back pain, and some may have symptoms of chronic urinary tract infections, mostly bladder irritation such as frequent urination and urgency. A few may have low-grade fever or recurrent fever, occasionally accompanied by lower limb edema. Due to the stretching of the renal plexus during kidney activity, it often leads to digestive symptoms such as bloating, nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite. These patients usually also have symptoms such as insomnia and memory loss. However, the degree of renal ptosis is not directly proportional to the symptoms it causes. Sometimes the amplitude of renal ptosis is large, but the symptoms are not very severe.

2、 How is renal ptosis caused?

Renal ptosis may be caused by relaxation of the connective tissue around the kidneys. If a patient has chronic cough and constipation, or sudden decrease in abdominal pressure, it can cause renal ptosis. If the patient engages in heavy physical labor for a long time, it may cause fatigue in the body, leading to renal ptosis. If the body is overweight and suddenly shows rapid weight loss, it can also induce renal ptosis. Some people have congenital shallow and wide renal pelvis, so when the kidney area is compressed by external forces, it is also easy to cause renal ptosis, especially on the right side. If the body falls from a height or is subjected to severe shaking, it can also easily cause tearing of the connective tissue around the fixed kidneys, leading to kidney prolapse. If the waist muscles are weak, it can easily cause low pressure in the abdominal cavity and also lead to kidney prolapse. In pregnant women, because the fetus squeezes the viscera of the abdominal cavity, resulting in organ displacement, it will also increase the incidence rate of nephroptosis.

3、 How to prevent renal ptosis?

In daily life, it is necessary to avoid standing for a long time and engage in some fitness exercises, such as sit ups, supine leg lifts, etc., because these exercises can exercise the abdominal muscles, enhance muscle strength, and maintain the position of the kidneys. A healthy diet is also very important for preventing kidney sagging. People with thin body shape can increase their intake of animal fats appropriately to control their weight within the normal range, but also maintain sufficient nutrition and avoid excessive weight loss. In sexual activity, protective measures should be taken to avoid unexpected pregnancies and induced abortions, which can also reduce the probability of kidney prolapse to a certain extent.
